Understanding the SecurityÂ
Do you fully understand the lock choices available to you? There is such a large variety, all with differing names and British Standard codes, that it is easy to get confused.
What is a rim lock?
This automatically locks when the door is closed. It can be opened from the inside without a key.
What is an automatic deadlock?
This automatically locks when the door is closed. It needs a key to open it from the inside and the outside, so more secure than a rim lock.
What is a mortice deadlock?
This is fitted about a third of the way up a door, actually within the frame itself. This is separate to any other lock on the door and 'dead locks' the door for added security.
If you fit the right locks, first time, it could also save money on your house insurance premiums.
