Tilt and Turn uPVC Windows
Increasingly people buying replacement windows are opting for ‘tilt and turn’ uPVC windows. In fact this is the most commonly used style in Europe. Like casement windows they give a full opening, but the tilt functionality allows you to open them into the room vertically for ventilation. Multi-point locking gives you peace of mind with the knowledge that this style of window is very secure.
As the name implies, ‘tilt and turn’ windows have two different modes which are dependent on the positioning of the handle. When the handle points downwards the window is locked. With the handle horizontal the window opens fully into the room. As well as making cleaning the window a straight forward job this is great on a hot day when you want to get as much air as possible into the house. If the handle points upwards the window tilts into the room with restrictors ensuring that the window does not open fully, but does leave enough space for ventilation.
You are spoiled for choice when it comes to finishes. When it comes to the frame you can select from a white, mahogany, oak or rosewood finish; but the options go beyond this. You could think about adding Georgian or leaded features to the glass to make them more unique. Of course you can choose everything down to the handles so each installation is completely bespoke.
This versatile replacement window is a wonderful blend of classic style with modern technology. Tilt and turn windows are also extremely secure as the entire frame is locked into place with the single lever.
